But the trend was soon going to change until the invent of Samsung S8 and s8+ with 18:9
they just advertise and advertise their bigger screen calling as infinity display.
After that all the Chinese manufacturer started using 18:9 screen that was first used in the Samsung S8+.
The companies like Huawei,OPPO,VIVO and OnePlus was on the ground too.
These Chinese manufacturers started building the 18:9 phones in their higher price point and as well as their mid-range smart phones.
Almost all phones were on 18:9 screen to body ratio.
This Apple didn’t announce any signal smartphone with this screen to body ratio.
At the end of 2017 Apple introduced the IPHONE X with the notch and they call this as 19:9 screen to body ratio.
The reality of 19:9 screen to body ratio is that is notch that is included in the screen is also included in the ratio in simpler words if phone cover the whole front from screen without the notch and bezels it would be called as 19:9 screen.
Apple was the first to introduce the notch it was the Xiaomi but after it introduced in iPhone almost all companies started to apply this notch with all the needed sensors included in the notch.
This was the most hated feature of the 2018.
BBK electronics that owns OPPO VIVO ONEPLUS and REALME come up and started experimenting the removal of notch.
OPPO introduced the find x with the motorized camera and vivo come up with the NEXs for the higher price points.
These phones provide the user the experience of the full view display with no notch.
For mid-range devices they introduced the pretty tear drop notch.
One plus 6t also comes with the tear drop notch.
VIVO introduced the VIVO NEX dual display with screen on both sides provides the same camera for selfie and rear shots.
So, the experiments is on for these Chinese manufacturers.
What ever you say these companies try to bring cool innovations in their phones.
Vivo v15 pro also comes with the pop up camera in mid range.
Recently Sony announce that they will release the first phone with screen to body ratio of 21:9.
